I don' t know enough to say one way or the other ...I accepted what the report said but perhaps it's wrong?I've tried googling it but didn' t find a specific answer.
The lionesses do the hunting and provide the food - they bring up their cubs collectively within the pride, I think? but whether they would actually fight to protect the cubs, that I don't know? maybe that part is left to the male?
Perhaps some one will join in and enlighten us?

I am doubtful of the story, Elle.
Another source I read said they are not brothers.
I always thought the males lived separately from the pride, and had little to do with raising or protecting cubs.

Hi elle
It is usual for the new male to kill any cubs sired by the old lionn as he wants only his progeny to survive. What is going to happen to elephants tigers and rhinos and all the bushmeat animals I hate to think. It is strange that in such a modern world the need to kill for pleasure is still considered OK

Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Management officially confirmed Jericho is still alive and well in Hwange National Park

Good.
The more you read of it, the more unlikely the story is.
All quiet around your village, Jazzgirl?

The latest information on Jericho came in this morning, but there are still conflicting reports. We just need confirmation of an actual sighting as proof. It's a rollercoaster of emotion.

Village is very quiet. It seems strange not to hear any traffic.

Yes, it is an unsettling story!
Hope you enjoy your day in the cycling world.
I am very envious, and looking forward to the television pictures!
Weather forecast is favourable, so we should see the countryside and the Lycra in all their glory!
Allez, allez, allez!

Brent has apparently tracked Jericho and photographed him this morning. (posted at 0701 ) I just hope this is correct and await the photos later.
Now I really must go and get ready for the day.
Allez,

Morning, Rusty!
It's yet another beautiful day here! Warm already!
It augurs well for "Jazzy's" cycle race!
I've already done today's Everyman crossword - I don't know if they are getting easier /I am getting better (doubtful! )/ or more likely I'm getting used to the new setter!
Just one still to parse but I'm working on that!
Have you been out yet today? for your paper?
We shall go for a walk in a little while - buy The Sunday Times whilst out with the dog. It's the only day we do buy a paper - it takes all week to read that as there is so much of it!
I've been reading the reports about Jericho.... not sure what to believe? I hope he is unharmed. As Doglet says, so much senseles skilling....... just for the sake of the bloodlust?
