Good afternoon, Rusty!
I am glad that you had a good time and negotiated the roads safely.
Is the "new" restaurant near the Pine Cone ...or near home?
I wasn't sure?
I think it good to try new places and "experiment" with different food dishes !
I am only just back home now....
I have been out for a walk.
The weather is definitely worsening.......colder now than earlier, and
the ground very slippery indeed.
There is still snow at the park and no sign of the lakes thawing!
No, I don't know of John B. Keane?
What is "The Bodhran Makers" about?

Hello, Elle!
The restaurant is not far off and Miss L-B thinks we shall walk there.
it is quite cold here, the frost has not lifted.
John B. Keane is an Irish author.
He wrote "The Field" which became a film with Richard Harris and Brenda Fricker in leading roles.
Have you heard of it?
My book is about country life in Ireland in the 50's and the conflicts between the locals and the clergy.
I can relate to that!
So, I'll give it a go, anyway, as it's well reviewed.

Hi, Rusty!
A restaurant near home will solve all your problems in bad weather!
No...I don't think I have heard of "The Field"?
Neither book nor film.......
Although I liked Richard Harris.... and I remember Brenda Fricker especially, because she used to be in "Casualty", which I have watched for very many years.
She played Megan Roach, a nurse, who, at the end of her fictional story life, played a part where she suffered from terminal cancer.......resulting in euthanasia.
A big story line in the series.
But back to "The Bodhran Makers".....
The theme of your new book sounds very close to home......with its troubles between the local inhabitants and the church,
I hope it is as good as you hope.
Is it a true story..... or "based" on such?

Hello, Elle!
I think the new restaurant may be a bit too fussy for my taste but I shall try it and see.
I don't know what the book is based on, but we do have personal experience of fall outs with clergy, at home, especially in bygone days.
I am looking forward to it, and John B. Keane has written many more, if I take to this one.
My son has just left for home.
Good to see him!

Hi, Rusty!
It is as well that your son lives nearby , with this bad weather about.
At least, you could still spend the evening together and have a chat.
My friend didn't drive up from Essex today, because of the icy road conditions , so we missed our weekly lunch!
Now...you are not going to believe this!
There was a question on "Eggheads" today about "dry mouth"!
What is Xerostomia to do with?
bloodshot eyes; dry mouth; or runny nose
How is that for a spooky coincidence?

I had to count cars to post this!

Hello, Elle!
My son said it is quite cold outside, but he is home now.
Now, I said to Rosalind that a clue may appear in a puzzle about "dry mouth" in the next day or two!
What a coincidence!
Did you get it correct?
Anyway, this dry mouth is not very pleasant!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I got it right!
I could hardly fail to do so, as we had been talking about it so recently!
I am sorry your mouth is still very sore...are you drinking plenty of cold water?
Sipping it slowly?
Now here is another question from "Eggheads" for you...
What day of the week is Poets' Day?
You may know this...but I didn't ......

Hello, Elle!
Well done on Eggheads!
Kevin would know it, anyway.
He knows lots!
I am sipping water regularly but it only helps for a few seconds.
But worse things happen at sea!
And I see my dentist on Monday and we'll see how the land lies then.
Now, I have no idea of when Poets' Day is, but I have had a think and I'll guess Thursday.
No idea why but it came into my head!
Not sure where "thur" comes from?
Anything to do with "Thor" maybe?

Hi, Rusty!
The answer is "Friday"!
Seemingly, "poets" stands for "push off early tomorrow's Saturday".
New to me!
Yes, "Thursday" comes from "Thor's Day"!
Thor being the god of thunder.
We have snowflakes falling at the moment!
The dog has just been out in the garden...... it is perishing cold!
The forecast says it will snow from 11pm through till 5 am., and then sleet!
I am not going out early tomorrow, as I fear the roads and pavements will be extremely icy.
I shall take the dog for a walk later in the day.
Be careful when/ if you go for your paper.

I had to count cars, buses, bridges. telegraph poles.....several times over .....to send the previous post!
I hope Captcha isn't going to become a nuisance again?
