A family phrase here is "no wrecks and nobody drownded - fact, nothing to laugh at at all"

There is a sequel. They get insurance money, but Wallace coughs up Albert, who returns home. Father gives him back his stick with his horse's head handle and says "Go and see what tigers can do"

Good evening, Elle!
No snow here, yet!
I see they are cancelling trains etc down your way, and aeroplanes.
Not very promising!
Hope your daughter gets home OK!
I have not heard of The Lion and Albert, and I needed to listen to it twice to "tune in" to Stanley's accent!
It was good, though, and an ideal situation to "Send In The Clowns"?
Have you braved the weather today?

Hi, Rusty!
Well, there is nothing at all left, here, to show for our day of "snow"........
I did not know that trains and planes were being cancelled?
I wonder what the "powers-that- be" know that I don't....?
"Trains and Boats and Planes ...."
Now who sang that? At first, I'd thought of Peter, Paul, and Mary?
But now I'm thinking perhaps Dionne Warwick?
P, P and M sang "Leaving on a Jet Plane" though.....
I like both those songs.

There is a sequel to Albert's escapade....
He returns, just as mum and dad are receiving the insurance money from the "young man from the Prudential"......

"And `e paid them with interest and bonus
The sum of nine pounds, four and two."

Now, Pa didn't want to hand back the money...so he sent Albert back to the Zoo.......

"Then giving young Albert a shilling,
`E said "`Ere, pop off back to the zoo;
Get your stick with the `orse's `ead `andle-
Go and see wot the tigers can do!" "

You will find that, too, on YouTube!

Yes, I braved the elements early this morning as usual - but no, we haven't been out this afternoon. even I quailed at the thought!

Hello, Chris!
I liked Albert's monetary insurance value of " nine pounds, four and two." !

Hello, Elle!
You are well up on comic verse!
My understanding of this weather is that the South (you) will get the snow before us folks up here.
I think our "snow days" are Wed, Thurs, and Friday.
It was on SkyNews about the transport cancellations.
You will need your Nubucks to get about!
I am not sure about the song but Bert Bacharach is in my head?

Hi, Rusty!
I have proper snow boots, with thingummies on the soles to grip the ice.......
What do I mean.......what are they called ......"ice grips" seems too simple?
But I am remaining housebound, should it snow in earnest!
However, my peronalised page on the BBC weather forecast is not showing much snow for our area....I hope those are not 'famous last words' though!
Yes, I like "Albert"!
And "Pick up thi Musket, Sam"
(although I am not sure that is the proper title)
Also, the Edward Lear "Nonsense" poems like "The Owl and the Pussycat".......
They are fun.
Yes, I think you are right in saying that Burt Bacharach wrote "Trains and Boats ad Planes" - with Hal David?

Hello, Pigale!
It sounds much colder your way than it is here?
We are minus 1 to minus 2!

Hello, Elle!
I suppose "crampons" would be the proper name, but most folk know them as "ice-grips", that is what I call them.
Well, the snow threat is over several days, so I suppose we must get some, sometime!
I'll play it by ear, the snow, about going out or not.
The BBC forecast will be as good as any, though I am not a fan of their upgraded website.

Hello, Pigale!
it is cold here, too!
You must warn us when the snow is on its way!

Hi, Rusty!
I too shall also play it by ear!
I shall be up early tomorrow, and will take the dog out as usual, unless we have had a heavy fall of snow.
I am wary of going out in snow, since cracking my head a on a slab of concrete two years ago, when I fell on some "hidden" ice.
( It was not just I being clumsy..........my rescuer all but fell on the ice too, when he tried to pull me up!)
Just been outside with the dog......
Brrrh! It is arctic!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, best be careful if you venture out!
I do not mind the snow, it's the black ice I hate.
The stuff is dangerous!
I have just been watching Evelyn again.
A super lady!
I'll have to try and find out when she is next on.
Can't miss Evelyn!

A Very good morning to you, Rusty!
I am just back from a most enjoyable invigorating walk!
We have a lovely morning here....blue sky, bright sunshine.......hard frost......therefore clean dog......
But it is very cold! Minus 2C!
Snow is forecast for a little later.
I was listening to Bing last night......many old favourites.
I now have an earworm......."Too-Ra- Loo- Ra- Loo- Ral".
I cannot stop singing it!
What are you up to today?
