Hi, Rusty!
So I was right in saying that Roscoe Tanner had the fastest serve at that time - I wonder why I remembered that when I couldn't even place what he looked like?
Ah well, memory plays strange tricks on us!
Goring-by -Sea is near Worthing, does that mean anything to you?
I've been talking to my daughter on the phone for the past half -hour - she rings me every day on her way home from work - so am not up-to-date with the latest tennis results.
Rafa Nadal and Dustin Brown had just started playing......
I shall have to catch up in a few minutes when I've finished typing this........ the sound is off because of talking on the phone and I cannot see the TV from here as I'm on the desk top .
My Hudl is charging - the battery always seems to need charging - do you find this with yours?
Must away to get dinner....shepherd's pie tonight.
What are you having?

Hello, Elle!
I had ginger nut biscuits and coffee.
No, I don't know Worthing.
I heard Nada got beat, so that pleases me.
I don't really find the battery much of a problem, but I have filleted the Hudl. I got rid of lots of things that are of no interest to me. You may have things running in the background?
Lucky you with shepherds pie! Do you make it?
I cannot find out how Victoria got on!
Is your weather still fine?

Rusty, try this
http://www.racinguk.com/news/article/36296/no-joy-for-pendleton-on-jockey-debut
I hope it will work? Let me know- if it doesn't , I'll try again.
Yes, I made the Shepherd's pie! Very good too!
Weather still fine - no sign of thunderstorm and the sun is still shining even though it's nine o'clock!

Yes, thank you, Elle, that worked!

Morning, Rusty!
A much fresher, cooler start to the day - a very enjoyable early walk! We never had any rain or a thunderstorm!
What is it like with you?
I'm glad that the link worked.
Victoria seemed not too displeased with her debut into horse racing? I read that she was only given a 2-1 chance to reach the first five home? and was thought not to be competitive?
But why did she decide to change careers ( "change horses midstream" so to speak?! I know...ouch!) - she is
such a successful cyclist?
Or is horse-racing just to be a second string to her bow?
Now to read my daily newsletter from Wimbledon and see the order of today's play....

Hello, Elle!
My weather has changed!
Glorious outside, and warm.
Must be catching up with you folk in the South, and Worthing, wherever it is!
Queen Vic? I disapprove.
She is at the base of a learning curve. She has a good bit to go to earn a license, never mind ride a winner.
But she is enjoying it, and has had the benefit of the great McCoy's wisdom.
Very early days for Victoria!
She had it tough in cycle racing. There was no love lost between her and Anna Meares for example.
Because Vic was slim and pretty and not built like a typical sprinter the Aussies etc called her "Princess", in a disparaging manner. I used to detest Anna (I don't now) but Vic was able to whip her butt, and they have made up, and their last conversation after Vic retired was about wedding dresses!
Vic became the most successful British female Olympian, and multiple World champion (9 times, I think). She ended up hating racing (not cycling, but racing). I think she was treated despicably by the BCF for the dreadful crime of "falling in love" with her future husband. Relationships between riders and coaching staff forbidden. Not allowed by the BCF, to this day! And what did Victoria have to do to be recognised by her country in the same way as Sir Chris?
She had gold medals and Rainbow Jerseys galore.
Why no Damehood?
You have kicked over a hornet's nest getting me started on Victoria!
My own view is she should forget the Foxhunters at Cheltenham, and start a family!
You may have gathered I am a huge fan of Victoria!
And I like Hovis!

I am meeting one of the young ones later.
Great day for an ice cream!

Hi, Rusty!
Oops, yes, I certainly did disturb the hornets nest......!
Hopefully , you are on your second ice- cream by now and feeling cooler.....?
Seriously, I can see where you are coming from with regard to Victoria and do sympathise with your views. She has had it tough. But you 've always said that she is inclined to get upset too easily?
Maybe this foray into horse -racing will be the new start and interest she needs?

It remains cooler here than the last few days; we aren't that far from Wimbledon so, hopefully, it will be a better temperature there, too, for today's players.
I haven't put the television on yet - I've already missed about an hour's play! - as we've been out in the garden continuing with yesterday's onslaught!
The garden is looking good......

Should be some good matches this afternoon.......

Hi Rusty!
Trust you're ready for the Grand Depart tomorrow. I've put a fiver e/w on Contador at 4-1, who seems to be in top form after his win in the Giro. If he crashes out on the cobbles I'll be miffed! (I was going to put a tenner 'on the nose' but I've got a sneaking suspicion that Froomey could just do it again.)
I see Lizzie won last week, and Peter Kennaugh (who's part of team Sky for the tour).
Allez! Allez!

Hi everybody -

Re Contador, he certainly is not to be ignored and on top of this, Ivan Basso is in same team ; although 38 now, he can certainly 'race' for to Contador.

One serious danger for Contador is Quintana - he is only 25 (8 years younger than Contador) and a good climber.

By the way, I have just discovered that P. Rolland (team Europcar) was born no more than 22kms from where I live ! Strange that I never knew this since I often visit this smallish but lovely town on the River Loire.
