TheRogue, after the great success of Yorkshire last year, my sons and me agreed that in future the Grand Depart should be in Paris, and the rest of the Tour in Yorkshire!

I'm sure that would work rusty, but I'm not sure that we could cope with a houseful of keen cycle watchers for the best part of three weeks!

Here, no storm, no rain, but no cooler weather either - still in the same 39 -42C bracket as we have been for 4/5 days now, and on top of it, temps not due to go any lower than 22-24C in night - that is the worse part.

I hope this heat will recede somewhat for the Tour but I don't hold much hope for the next few days - the North-East will be the last part of the country to cool down - whenever that is, but hopefully before the mountain stages.

I also noticed that the 2 brothers Chavanel are riding, Sebastien for France (FDJ - with T. Pinot), and Sylvain for Switzerland, (IAMCycling) . I know Sylvain more than Seb though.

Do you know him well?

Hello, Pigale, I did not sleep much on the night of the lightning. Our weather has become warmer!
It is very hot with you. We do not get temperatures like that. If there is no rain forecast for Northern France that is good for Stage 4. The cobbles are bad enough when dry, but with rain...! Not good!
I know Sylvain well, but not his brother.
Sylvain should do very well indeed, against the clock tomorrow. He usually has a good Tour.
