Hello, Elle!
I have been "digging" about Saint Paul.
Apparently he was a prisoner when he was shipwrecked.
He had been accused of inciting the Jews to rise up against the Romans.
He was being taken to Rome for trial.
His friend Luke was with him for company.
Anyway, after Paul was shipwrecked on Malta, a snake bit him on the hand, but he was unharmed.
He seems to have led an eventful life, did Paul!

Good morning, Rusty!
A dull day here as yet.......
Goodness, you have been busy with your research......both into the Tower of London and St Paul!
You will no doubt have read all about the ravens and the Tower.......although a faint bell is ringing that I may have told you this before?
Perhaps after my last visit there, when taking the Scottish relatives?
The children were very keen to explore the Tower!
The story goes that if the ravens ( there need to be six; so seven are kept to provide a "spare"!) desert the Tower, then the Monarchy and Britain will fall.
The ravens are thus "protected" and I believe are locked up at night.
I'm afraid I definitely overdid the televiewing of the Athletics yesterday......and am suffering from it today!
We are off out soon to the dog groomers........the dog will not be best pleased ...she much prefers being scruffy and dirty!

Just a quick message from me before I go....
I thought I should clear matters up regarding the link I added (re Paul/Saul) as neither Rusty nor I could open Pigale's link. No fault of Pigale's , and Elle you said it was no problem and easy to "copy and paste" the link .
Well, this is easy if you are on a PC, but on an Android device, or iPad (which I was using ) it can sometimes be very difficult and I know that Rusty has mentioned before that he cannot "do" copy and paste. So I hope this clarifies my reason for posting the alternative link. I hope you understand.
I hope you all have a good day.

Hello, Elle!
No, I did not read about the ravens.
There was SO much else to read!
A very interesting place is the Tower of London.
I wonder what happened to the young Princes who were held there?
Saint Paul seemed to be a very unlucky man.
You would not send him for a Lottery ticket, I don't think.
And the experts say there have never been venomous snakes on Malta, so is more salt required?

Hello, Jazzgirl,
I used to be able to copy and paste but the skill seems to have left me, on this site, at least.
I found your link very helpful and I like learning new things!

rusty, I think you'd enjoy "The Daughter of Time" by Josephine Tey ("Truth is the daughter of time"). I still am not quite sure of the arguments and both sides seem convinced they're right. I suppose the princes were murdered; does it really matter by whom, I wonder? Richard was a Good King and, in my book at least, it's a pity he lost at Bosworth.

Even if there had been venomous snakes on Malta, removing their venom (miraculously) would have ensured they died out. No means of catching prey! Loadsa salt, rusty!

Hi, Rusty!
We have left the dog at the groomers, and shall go back to collect her at 12.30!
Yes, the Tower of London has a fascinating history.
Regarding the two young Princes, they simply "disappeared"!
I think it is commonly assumed that they were murdered; most probably by their uncle, Richard, the Duke of Gloucester , who took the throne for himself.
There is a very long list of "well known " people imprisoned in the Tower"!
It includes Royalty down to the last ones to be imprisoned there, which I think were the Kray twins?
I am taking it easy today......not so much TV!
I shall search for an Athletics schedule, so that I can pick and choose what times to watch.
I gave myself a headache yesterday !!

Hello, Rosalind!
I was going along fine with the tale of St Paul until he met the snake!
That sounds improbable!
Most of the quotes say a snake "fastened" on his hand/arm.
Yes, it looks like the young Princes were murdered, but I know little about Richard or Bosworth.
Macbeth was reputed to be a good and fair king until Shakespeare took liberties with his character.

Hello, Elle!
Now why on earth would the Krays be held in the Tower?
Surely there are modern prisons that would take them?
There were/are several prisons in London, but I have read that in the case of notorious prisoners doing lengthy sentences, they were despatched to far away prisons deliberately, to make things more difficult for visiting them.
I have read of some of the German spies who were shot there.
And I think Lady Jane Grey got a raw deal, too.
A very interesting place, is the Tower!
No athletics until evening, so that's fine!

I believe the Krays were only briefly incarcerated in the Tower for evading the 'call-up', so we are talking 1940/50s. I suspect they were not alone - just more notorious (subsequently) than the rest.
