Hello, Elle!
So, the Tower dates back to William the Conqueror?
I did not think it was so old.
And what exactly is an Armoury?
I am having a break from TV. it's hard work!
I'll watch the ladies 100 metres final later.
Hope Elaine Thompson is in it!
Just watched In-Kyung Kim win her first major golf tournament.
Everyone is delighted for her.
She is known for missing a 14 inch putt to win a previous Major at Mission Hills a few years ago, and lost the play-off to Sung Young Yoo.
So, she has got a monkey off her back!
Well done, I.K.!

Hi, Rusty!
I, too, have had a break from watching the Athletics...... my eyes were beginning to hurt.
I shall watch again at 9 o'clock - when transmission goes over to BBC2 - now that the Sunday phone calls are out of the way!
In-Kyung Kim did well!
I do not know the expression "Got a monkey off her back"?
Is a "monkey" a problem that won't go away?
That sounds likely?

Hello, Elle!
Well, I am not certain about "monkey".
It is a known saying, though.
I suspect it may come from the world of drugs.
Having an addiction.
But basically it means you are carrying a burden you could do without.
That's what I think, but I am open to be corrected.
But yes, Miss Kim did very well.
She has never dodged the issue of the "missed putt" and has been interviewed several times about it.
I think the whole world of golf is delighted for her.
I think I am like you, Elle,.
I find my eyes hurting from looking at TV!
And yet there are folk who watch TV from morning until bedtime!
Armoury ?

Hello, Elle,
Brewer's says "monkey on one's back" is drug addiction.
Let us hope this phrase does not end up like "through a glass darkly" which concluded with Saint Paul being shipwrecked on Malta!

Hi,Rrusty!
An Armoury is a place where weapons are kept.
A long time ago... in my "younger days"..... the Armoury in the Tower of London was just a few rooms, where the arms were laid out on display, but I believe that there is now an authentic Armoury Museum in the White Tower.
I think this is a part of the Royal Armouries Museum, which has three sites across the Uk: one in Leeds, the one in the Tower, and another - possibly in Portsmouth?
Right.... a quick look at the Athletics.....

Hello, Elle!
And does anyone live in the Tower nowadays?
I have not looked at the athletics and am not sure what has happened, but Eilish McColgan has just "tweeted" that Holly Bradshaw is very upset and in tears.
Poor lass!

Hey, Rusty!
Follow up!
Chambers says: "Have a monkey on one's back" means "to be addicted to drugs" ; or
"to be burdened with a long term problem"
I think - but am not sure - that the Yeoman Warders (aka "Beefeaters" ) can choose to live there?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, Chambers have it the way I thought.
Fits I.K.'s "missed putt" to a T!
Just watched the procession at the Feast of Saint Paul's Church of the Shipwreck in Malta.
It was impressive!

Hi, Rusty!
I hung on to watch the Women's 100m Final...........
But what an outcome!
Very surprisingly , having been expected to win easily, Elaine Thompson was not even in the medals!
American Tori Bowie took Gold, just pipping Marie Josee La Tou, who won Silver.
Dafne Schipper came third to take the Bronze.
That is twice now that an American has stepped in to whisk an expected medal away from a Jamaican!
Did you watch?

Good morning, Elle!
Yes, I had looked forward to seeing Elaine Thompson.
She was not up it, though.
I wonder if Dafne Schippers can win the 200, if she runs?
I have been learning a bit about your Tower of London.
Lots of history there!
Kings actually lived there.
I never knew there had been menageries there over the centuries, including a polar bear.
Always learning!
