Hi, Rusty!
My Goodness , if you Google "Through a Glass Darkly" you will find a long list (about 3 dozen) of literature: fiction/ non-fiction/ poetry; music/ episodes from TV series /a film all so entitled!
Is this "legal"?
I am surprised that a title can so duplicated?
Yes, Rusty, Corinthians is in The Bible!
And "Through a glass darkly ..." is said by Paul in 1 Corinthians 13:12.
Yes, Laura ran her race very strategically.
The Men's 100m Final will obviously be the highlight of the day......
We are fortunate to have a GB competitor - I hope he will be able to take a medal.
But of course, I - and no doubt many others in the Stadium - are hoping for Usain Bolt to go out in a blaze of glory!
It is a magnificent evening's viewing!
Right, I have stretched my legs...and had a break....
I'm going now to grab a cup of coffee, then back to see the remainder of tonight's session!

Hello, Elle!
Goodness!
You have done your research!
I am not very clued up on the Bible, I'm afraid.
I have no idea how that phrase entered my head yesterday!
The athletics stadium looks great at night!
Laura's final is on Monday and I hope she wins a medal!
And Usain did not quite do it.
A pity, we will miss him competing!
The womens golf finishes tomorrow.
In-Kyung Kim has a six shot lead and that will be very hard to get back.
But, she played great today and must be fairly confident.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, the Stadium "in the flesh" was most impressive when lit at night!
And walking across the Bridge afterwards was beautiful with all the lights reflecting in the water.
We enjoyed our visit.
I was sorry that Usain did not win.......but strangely his losing did not detract at all from his glory, did it?
It was still a momentous occasion...and the crowd paid homage to him...as did he to all his supporters.
Justin Gatlin's win was eclipsed.
But to give Gatlin his due he did bow down to Usain Bolt.... and Bolt gave him a hug!
I watched an interview with Usain afterwards on BBC 2 and he was so gracious, and such a gentleman.
Have you been jumping from golf to athletics?
Your head must be spinning!
And tomorrow looks to be an even busier day!

Hello, Elle,
Yes, the crowd gave Bolt a great reception.
He will be missed.
This week the golf is on in the afternoon, so has not interfered with the athletics.
I think there is a full day tomorrow though, with men and women's marathons.

Good morning, Elle!
Fine morning here!
How are you for weather?
I have been learning a wee bit about Paul and Corinth, that you told me about.
A very wee bit, as there is tons of info about him.
I thought he was one of the twelve apostles but he was a different Paul.
I read about his friendship with Priscilla and Aquila.
And that he blinded a man he met...
That turned me off him!
I had a quick glance through War Horse and I think I will like it!
Right, I have no milk, so am heading to ASDA just now!

A Very good morning to you, Rusty!
It is a beautiful day here...we have just come back from a very peaceful walk....not many dog walkers out this morning!
I have a coffee, and an apple and a piece of (cheddar) cheese to hand as I write this.
Now, off the top of my head......
St Paul was an apostle, although not one of the twelve original apostles .
Paul was also known as Saul of Tarsus.
His conversion took place on the road to Damascus, when he was blinded for three days.
(Now are you sure you haven't confused this with Paul himself blinding some one?
You might well be right, but it does sound strange, and I've never heard that before?
I stand ready to be corrected if necessary!)
My copy of "War Horse" has still to come.

Hello Elle and Rusty

I am jumping into a conversation about which I know nothing!
But out of interest, I googled and found this
(hopes the link works)

biblehub.com/commentaries/acts/13-11.htm

Am I talking about the same thing? Does it make sense?

And how are you?

Hello, Elle!
Still a nice day here.
Elle, there is loads of stuff about Paul out there.
YouTube has a great deal on him.
Much to learn!
Yes, I am often confused, Elle, but....
What I read was that when Paul was on the island of Cyprus, he blinded a man called "Bar-Jesus" or "Elymas the Magician".
They had disagreed about something.
I read this on a Bible site, so whether this is historically accurate or not, I do not know.
So, no correction for you, from me!
Maybe a bowl of salt at your elbow would be helpful when reading about these Biblical figures and what they got up to?
The athletics is on TV now.
The men's marathon is under way.
