Good morning, Rusty!
A dull start to the day here.......it almost looks like rain.....although we are promised sunshine soon!
Still warm though.
I am away out with the dog in about an hour......... a threefold plan....beat the heat......be sure to be back for the "Everyman"..... followed by two programmes of Athletics!
I am not sure whether or not the family are arriving at some stage - they may come lunchtime.
How about you?
Anything nice planned for your day?

Re Shirley. A common reason for children to have a name like that is it was the surname of an ancestor, perhaps the maiden name of a woman a couple of generations previously to keep her family name alive. Shirley is a surname, there are quite a few on ancestry.com.
In my family some of the men were given what is usually regarded as a girl's name, in this case a surname. However, it was only a middle name for them, which seems a lot more reasonable. Although that particular name is no longer given to boys, my brother has a middle name that was his great grandmother's maiden name! Luckily it is a perfectly usual surname, at least in Scotland, associated with whisky.

I wondered if it was a place name, that they originated from..
I have a vague memory of a cycling club called the Shirley Wheelers or something similar.
It seems to be more common in the United States.
Many unusual first names there.
For instance, the golfer, Brooks Koepka.
Brooks is an unusual first name.

Hi, Rusty!

The sun came out and the sky is now (pale ) blue.
It was as well we went out when we did.......
Very hot and humid now ....... mid -twenties already.
Fortunately, I have a lazy day planned for later, watching the London Anniversary Games.
At least I have only one discipline to keep up with....you are going to be dizzy!
Oh, I meant to ask you......did the link work that I sent you, of today's Anniversary Games' events and times schedules?
It is good to see the baby of the osprey family up and flying!

Hello Rusty!

Only 7 kms after departure, two riders quit! I missed what's
happened - a crash?

this stage is going to be a brute; it is not often that the Col du Chat
is on Le Tour I don't think?

Hello Elle, How is the toe?

Hello, Pigale!
There was a crash but I did not see it.
An Italian rider looked to be quite hurt, (he was howling in pain), maybe a collar bone or broken shoulder.
Yes, Pigale, a brute of a stage.
The Colombier is tough enough but they have added Mont du Chat as well!
