Good idea, rusty. Some surnames came from places as well. I have a copy of a court roll of about 1500 beginning "Roger de ffarlam" (Farlam being a village in Cumberland) which became Fairlamb and other forms.
Yes, I know, should get a life!
Lots of sport for everyone today, enjoy guys! I'm painting bannisters.
Anyone else read "The Pigeon Tunnel" by John le Carre? Having trouble with it.

Hello, Rosalind!
One of my very favourite names is that of an American lady golfer.
Brooke Pancake !
I think it's a great name.
Wonder where the "Pancake" came from?

Hi, Rusty!
You sound engrossed in Le Tour!
I know that takes precedence for you, but don't forget that the London Anniversary Games start soon!
Although if that time table is correct (I trust it is?) then you have quite a while before Laura competes in her race!
I however shall be glued to it all from start to finish - barring phone calls and visitors, of course!
You have mountains ?
Does this mean I get to see any bears and /or eagles, should I "look in"?
Or are we not in the right territory?

Hello, Pigale!
Toe was feeling a tad better until my husband dropped his (very heavy) walking stick on it this morning!!!
He had unearthed said walking stick to use, because he has pulled a muscle in his back.
So now we're both "hobbling"!

Hello, Elle,
Yes, look in, there is wonderful scenery.
Mountains from start to finish.
They cross the Col du Chat.
I think "chat" is French for "cat" so you may see the odd tiger knocking about!
I am engrossed in the Tour, and golf soon, and my Norn Iron friends have me tracking their flight to Florida.
(Anybody with any sense is getting away from NI before the 12th!)
The Republic fills up with cars with NI plates!
Great for Irish tourism!
I'll look in on Laura when she races.

Hello, Pigale.
Pity about "G".
He has had a few crashes since we left Dusseldorf.
The Grand Colombier is a brute.
My Eurosport commentary is annoying.
Too much about Team Sky!
