Hello, Elle!
No, you explained very well.
I am a bit thick, is all.
Poor Rafa.
Andy Murray is fourth favourite to win the title.
Does not make sense to me.
He has won a match more than the rest of them?
Has Federer and Djokovic played today?

Hi, Rusty!
Goodness me! What a match!
The match between Rafa and Gilles Muller has ONLY JUST this minute finished!!
Rafa made an astonishing comeback.... it was two sets all , and the fifth deciding set went to 15 games to 13.......
With Muller the eventual winner!
Great tennis - great sportsmanship between the contestants!
I am sorry though that Rafa is out of the tournament,
If you didn't see any of it, you missed an epic match!
Yes, Roger played and went through, whilst Rafa was struggling on the other court!
Novak should have played next......but because Rafa's match went on so long, play has now been suspended for the day.
And I am exhausted...... this armchair tennis is hard work!

Hello, Elle!
I saw the last 40 minutes of the Muller v Nadal match.
10 out of 10 to everyone involved.
Players, umpires, judges, ball girls and boys, the crowd, too.
Was excellent to watch and not a crash in sight!
Just simply a great match!
I must admit I was sort of hoping for Muller to win.
"Checksum" was an answer today in my puzzle.
Something to do with computers.
New to me!

Hello, Pigale!
Just to let you know Le Tour will pass the Grotte de Lascaux on the road to Bergerac tomorrow.
Wonder if there will be any display or anything as they pass by?
I shall pay close attention!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, it was great, wasn't it ? Neither player deserved to lose.
The pity of it was that Rafa was definitely out of sorts at the beginning of the match.
But both men played brilliantly thereafter.
A real nail-biter!
I even watched it throughout, rather than see Roger play!
And nice to see them walk off together at the end!
I suspect this will be the "match of the tournament", don' t you think?
It was tennis standard worthy of a "Final"!
No, I haven't heard of "checksum" either?

Hello, Elle!
Well, I have not saw much of the tennis (I tend to take more of an interest during the second week) but I think you could walk many a mile and not see the equal of the Nadal v Muller match.
It pleased me very much indeed.
Yes, there was sportsmanship on display alright.
And huge enthusiastic crowds on Henman Hill.
Is it still called that? Maybe Konta's Kop now!
i liked Tim. He came across as a gentleman.
Ah well, back to Le Tour tomorrow!

Good morning, Rusty!
A nice day so far.....and happily a bit cooler - but we , and Wimbledon , are forecast rain for most of the day!
The garden needs it......the tennis players don't!
I'm assuming Novak will have to play his postponed match today?
I haven't seen the schedule yet.
Henman Hill still reigns supreme!
There were one or two attempts to call it "Rusedski R,idge", then "Murray Mound".......but it seems now to be set in stone as Henman Hill for ever!
A lovely tribute to Tim, I think?
Yes, he is one of the good guys!

Good morning, Elle!
Yes, they should leave "Henman Hill" alone!
Tim was certainly one of the good guys!
Bit dull and unpromising here.
Now, this is a discovery for me, though you as a tennis buff will probably know this.
Tennis was originally called "sphairistike"!
Certainly never heard of that before.
Apparently "sphaira" is Greek for ball.
The Tour is passing the Lascaux Caves (cave paintings) today.
Wonder if they will have any kind of display for us?
I hope to catch a bit of the tennis, too.
Oh, for another Nadal v Muller game!

Hi, Rusty!
No, "sphairistike" is a new word for me, too!
You are certainly a man of surprises!
Wherever/ however did you come across such a word?
I have looked in Chambers, but it is not there?
Now, speaking of tennis......
Novak is first on Centre Court, playing at 12pm
Jo is third on, should you want to watch her?
Btw, did you ever decide to place a bet on Jamie Murray and Martina Hingis in the Mixed Doubles?
They are playing in the Third Round RIGHT NOW on Court no 2 !
It is interesting that Le Tour is passing the Lascaux Caves, which bear paintings....
I wonder will there be any mention of them?
(or of Anne B's "prints"?)

Hello Elle and Rusty!

Sorry for not replying to your post earlier Rusty - I had switched
my computer off early last night because of thunderstorm - there
is always a risk around here of sudden power cuts, which is not so
good for computers.

I have just read an article where they explain that the organisers
have planed the route and decided on a slight detour specially
designed to include the Grottes de Lascaux, so I expect there
will be at least some explanations, and perhaps a glimpse of
the new artificial copy of the original grottes due to be officially
opened later on this year - I think. They may well show pictures
of the original.

Decidedly fresher here today after last night,s thunder (I am glad
to say we were on the edge of what must have been a nasty
storm somewhere not too far!)

Hope you enjoy your tennis Elle!
