I am viewing a French channel, and the commentary is totally
impartial, which is good.

I wonder how many more riders will have to quit today!

Hi, Rusty!
Well.....it has proved a good afternoon at the Olympic Stadium!
( Although I have been having quite a number of interruptions!)
And wasn't it great to see / hear Brendon back in action , along with Steve, today!
One lovely moment was the much delayed presentation of Bronze medals to one of the GB 100m relay teams!
The quartet should have had the medals several years ago - they were cheated out of them by one of the Russian doping fours!
I think it is planned that there be several more of these special "delayed" presentations at the coming World Championships!
It is only right and proper that the athletes can eventually have their moments of triumph - and on home ground in the public eye.....
But how much more would it have meant to them had this happened there on the podium at the time of the event?
They have definitely been "cheated"!
It was such a pity that Laura did not manage to break the British record for the Mile!
But she made a gallant effort!
And she herself did not appear to be too displeased with that!
Inadvertently , Laura worked as personal pacemaker for Helen Obiri , who ran at her shoulder, and who did in fact win the mile race - breaking a Kenyon record in the process.
Laura came in second.
The final race of the afternoon saw Mo Farah winning - Andrew Butchart doing very well and coming in third.
I think Mo only has two more races now before his retirement after the World Championships?
How is Le Tour and golf going?

Hello, Elle,
I switched over to see Laura run.
She ran well but Obiri was too good for her.
I do not know about Obiri, but Laura is not quite in top condition yet.
Her target is the World Championships.
Jon Rahm has a good lead in the Irish Open.
He should win.
A nice touch he has is, at the start of the round he shakes hands with everyone in his group, his opponent, caddies, markers, stewards, and the scoreboard carriers.
The cycling was a very tough stage indeed.
There will be sore legs this night.
Stage spoiled by a very bad crash for Richie Porte.
He left the course in an ambulance.
No word on his injuries yet.

Well, quite frankly, after such horrific crash, he is "lucky" not to
suffer a head injury! But boy, what a day!

Hi, Rusty!
Well, I think Laura has just about three weeks grace before the start of the World Championships.....I think they run from August 4th to 13th?
I know the Parathletics begin next Friday - we are going on Saturday, Day 2 - and will finish on 23rd July.
She should hopefully be in good shape by August.
Oh dear, these cycle races are certainly fraught with danger!
Cycling is definitely not a sport for wimps!
( nor is it a sport for anyone in his/ her right mind!)
A broken shoulder blade is not very nice!
I have another episode of "The Voice Kids" tonight!
Two days running!
I do like that show!

Hello, Elle!
Laura will be fine for the Worlds, I think.
She seems quite happy, anyway.
Cycling is a great sport, but there are crashes!
No getting away from that!
The latest on Richie Porte, from Sophie Smith, a top cycling journalist, is, fractured collar bone and fractured hip (he'll be off the bike for 4 to 6 weeks.)
Could have been a lot worse!
Hope you like your show.

Rosalind, I have been looking up the Pancake family.
Seems they originated in Cornwall.
In the USA, the vast majority of the Pancakes live in West Virginia!

Hi, Rusty!
Another half hour to go of "The Voice"........
My cousin is ringing me later than usual tonight, well after the show has finished, because she has her grandson staying over, and has to put him to bed.
So that has worked out well!
All the children are excellent singers - - and so individual in their styles.
It must be so hard for the judges to make their choices.
Has all your sport finished for today?

Hello, Elle,
Yes, sport has finished for the day.
Rest day in the Tour tomorrow, and no golf until later in the week.
I'll be glad of a break from it.
I've just done Sunday Times crossword online!
A bit easier than the daily Times I think.
I've read that The Voice gets good reviews.
You have chosen your programme well!
Hope your cousin is grand!

Hey, Rusty!
Yes, thank you...all well up north!
You might find a moment to watch some tennis at Wimbledon then tomorrow ......if there is no cycling or golf claiming your attention?
Jo Konta has a match on Court No One at 1pm.
And Roger, Rafa, Novak and Andy Murray are all playing at some point.
It should be a good day!
I need a coffee.....
