Elle, I am sure you are right.
Lots of local words are not in dictionaries.
Most of my Dundee/Donegal dialect is not in Dictionaries.

It wasn't used as such, though, Chrisg!
and it was in fairly common usage, meaning 'wet'.
Maybe some relevance to whales needing to be wet? Who knows how these dialect words originate?

Pogonos is Greek for beard.
Pogonotomy is shaving!
Amazing what you learn in dictionaries!
