I'm finding that a lot of the ones I'm saying that I like/ liked, I didn't actually know at the time they were first popular. Like Buddy Holly for instance ..... I don't remember him in his 'prime,' only retrospectively.....
I was (just) too young for "rock 'n roll''..... but I well remember the twist! I can still do a mean twist now!

Thank you for bringing a smile to my breakfast time.
I hope my brain is as bright as yours if I ever reach the same age :)

Morning, Rusty!
Do I want anyone in particular to win?
Well, I don't look at Wimbledon in the same light as some of the other tournaments where one might be expected to support a fellow countryman......and I've never been a Murray fan.
I think I'd like Roger Federer to win one more time, but think that Djokovic may well triumph!
I've never seen anyone so gracious in defeat as Djokovic was at the French Open. He seems a very nice man.
And so long as Serena Williams doesn't win the Womens' Singles, I'm open- minded there. Venus I like, Serena I can't stand, and the language she used last time I watched her... she should have been penalised.
Maybe Maria Sharapova or Petra Kvitova?
I haven't seen the men's pairings or seedings, but assuming that Melo and Dodig are playing together as they did in the French, then maybe a Final between them and the Bryan twins?
What do YOU think?
Yes, it would be good to see Laura or Heather do well, but realistically...?
Nice day here so far, a little cooler possibly ... how about with you?

Good Morning everyoner,

Chiff, I am in total agreement with Jazzy's comments !

Elle, certain hits only reached the French radio a year or two after they made it big in the US, hence by the time 'Rock around the Clock' came out here, I was in my early teens, but certainly old enough to play it very loud, to my parents' great distress !

Jazzy, Montand was a fairly good actor too don't you think?
Did you ever had a chance of seeing any other singer of that generation live when you were in Paris - Brel, Brassens, Ferrat, Becaud.......?

Morning, Pigale!
The age of nostalgia....! "old" singers/ actors .....!
I think I must have gone around in blinkers when younger!
The first music to really impinge on my consciousness was The Beatles! I remember everyone else I've mentioned, and liked very much, from hearing them at a later stage.

Yves was the only one I saw live.
I first heard his singing in 1958 when studying "A" level French at college. Our tutor used to play "Les Feuilles Mortes" (LP record ) during lunch breaks and all of the girls were down the record shop the next day to order a copy of the LP. One or two of the tracks are a little "risque" for the 50's ! Google "La tete a l'ombre". It is on youtube. Enjoy ;)

Hi Elle
I will record Wimbledon as the noises some of the players especially the women is so distracting but I suppose Serena will crawl out of her sickbed and win.Like you I am not a fan of Mr Murray and was very surprised to find I was not alone.I wish Nadal could win but he just doesnt seem the player he was.I was given some DVDs of American musicals and had forgotten how good some of them were, but today I revisiting M Hulot

Doglet, I shall try to watch as much as I can 'live', as I never seem to catch up on myself when I record matches! I'm more fanatical about Week Two tho'!

Yep Jazzy, fairly 'risque' for those days ! I had never heard this song before.

Shame his reputation got somewhat tarnished when his step-daughter revealed his behaviour towards her!
