All around the same time,
Gene Vincent (Be bop)

Vienna Waltz, Austrian Orchestra,

Louis armstrong,

and a few tangos/passodobles and accordeon singles/LPs for dancing with the family (we all liked dancing at home after a gathering, every generations together)

Hello, therogue!
As far as I know, Voeckler rides the Tour.
He is in the French Championships tomorrow.
Would not be the Tour without the bold Thomas!
Froome is looking good. Contador, too!
Looks to be an extremely tough route this year.

Ah yes it's extra-mountainous this year, and Tommy is still in, I think! He's a very popular rider in France with that very distinctive climbing style, jaw jutting out, cranking over the big gears. Quite a tactician as well!
Think Quintana could be in with a shot, too. Him and Valverde on the same team! Might even have a bet on him, going to see what odds I can get!

@ chrise: btw I've just bought a book of Bunthorne puzzles from Amazon for £2.80! Great price for (I think) 100 crosswords.
At the rate I do them, that'll probably be enough to see me off...
off, now, for a ride with the lads,
Tinkety tonk!

Therogue, It is Thomas grimacing I like, and the way he looks at everyone. I find him very funny, and a smashing rider!
Poor odds on Quintana. Paddy Power offering 5-2 for him to win. 4-1 to win King of the Mountains.
5-2 would be good odds for a rider to finish in Paris, never mind the win!
Enjoy your spin!

Can I add my old Mother's favourite from long, long, ago?
"Where Will the Dimple Be?" by Rosemary Clooney!

You don't get them like that, anymore!

Hi, Rusty!
Lovely out - not too hot today, just a light breeze.
We've been through the woods , across the fields, and over to the river. The dog's favourite walk! She likes a plodge in the water! it's deep enough for her to swim too in parts where the river bottom has fallen away.
I have just discovered the origin of the nursery rhyme "The Grand Old Duke of York"!
I never realised that it came from an incident in the First World War!
Cassel was the place where the Grand Old Duke of York, who had ten thousand men, "marched them up to the top of the hill, then marched them down again"
Seemingly, he had no choice but to do that as no other route was available!
But you will know this, having read "1914..." yourself.
(I add the explanation for anyone else reading this!)
Only six more chapters to go now......been rather busy these last few days......Tommy and I have some serious catching up to do.......
Will you have a bet on Lizzie Armistead? I'll never get the hang of this betting lark!

Elle, my advice to you is to stay well away from the "betting lark". It is a mugs game!
My bets are small, and only for a wee bit added fun to something I am interested in.
No bet on Lizzie. Just hoping she will do well.
She has Yorkshire grit!
However, I do have a small wager on Tom Watson in the US Seniors Open.
Do you like 1914? I like Lyn's books. Very well written and incredibly researched.
A very nice day here.

Hello Elle,

Somewhat cooler here too, so took advantage to shop etc so that I don't need to go out for a week or so! Rising back up from tomorrow onwards - and really up, might even become a (shortish) period of canicule - or so the met office seems to think.

Tell me, with this warm weather, we tend to have a lot of field fires, with all the cereals ready to be harvested going up into flames. Do you have the same problem ?

With that and car crashes, the Fire Brigade is constantly being called out, sometimes in two opposite directions at the same time.

Also, are you pestered with minute insects that get everywhere, and particularly annoying in your hair/head?

I wonder what purpose they serve - perhaps Jazzy might have an idea..?

Hello, PIgale!
Yes, it's been pleasanter here, too, today - after a very warm night ! I was up about 5.45 am because I couldn't sleep!
I don't think we are bothered that much by fires among the harvest crops? - someone will no doubt rush to contradict me if I'm wrong!
Occasionally , some picknicker will start a fire by being careless with a barbecue, but I don't think it's much of a problem here.
You must mean 'midges'! Yes, they can be a nuisance - but I always use an insect repellent if I'm going out into the countryside , esp if it's in the evening, when the midges are more prevalent.
No idea at all if they serve any purpose other than to bite us!!!
