"Why would you strangle the witticisms?" he said gaspingly.

"I too tend to lean in favour of standardized spelling, but it would probably ruin cryptic xwords," he said, devastated.

aristo,

The Brits had writers like Enid Blyton,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enid_Blyton
who wrote The Famous Five and The Secret Seven series. Read all I could get my hands on in NZ.

Unfortunately, they too are being purged from our libraries.

The Hardy Boys & Nancy Drew are still going strong in graphic novels (PC for comics), videos & CD-ROMs.

I'm horrified to learn that Enid Blyton's books are being purged from your library. I used to love them and always coveted the little shed or whatever it was that the Secret Seven used to meet in.

They'll be attacking Paddington soon for being "Bearist" I suppose.

Hello all,

Still not finished the "joint effort", many things to do otherwise...unfortunately.

Could someone please give me a hint on 1a, I'm just not getting it.

Oh Wendy, don't worry I have a rather large stash of "Enids" in my attic...nudge nudge shhhh..

The trouble with thinking "horny", Pastie, is that you go on thinking it...............
