MaisieP,

Compared to most of the the others, my clues really were rather "tame" but glad you got the answers OK.

Next time, I'll strive to be a bit more devious when compiling.

I'm sure I can speak for everyone when I say you'll be welcome to help us out with the February Joint Effort - the more compilers, the better the fun.

...And that goes for Trevor and Phillip, Francis, AB, Torquemada et al. (with Matron, Captain Hook and Berkspotter watching from the sidelines of course!

well said my Wendy.....

It's still so much fun...because I still have not finished...

The more the bloody merrier, as far as I am concerned.

Although Les40 may be overwhelmed and have to beat people off with a stick...hope that doesn't happen.

peterm @143

My interpretation re 28A was:

one "A" sitting in 1A "NET" = "TAKE"

Same result though.

Syzygy,
peterm hit the nail on the head RE; post 143.

It is indeed Clever = neat, and Bull = neat (neat being a rare meaning for cattle)
using the word 'sitting' for "Sitting Bull" was my added bonus for a delightful little clue.

Cheers Syzygy,

Now that everyone sleeps over here, what do you reckon to the whole concept of "The Joint Effort" I think it went well, would you be up for a monthly involvement in the setting of clues?

Just reviewing (reviving, receiving, etc. Boy, spell-checkers suck! *) the flurry of posts while aristo & I slept.

Was that some sort of jest? Wendy @137
I'm partial to Shiraz, Malbec (Becalm!? *), & Merlot.

HTML tags must be lower-case, e.g.:
BOLD ... NOT BOLD

A thread this long gets unwieldy. To find a particular post, change the offset number in the address bar (minus 1). "/offset/136"
Or use modulus 10, ie: "/offset/130" to get that page.

No wonder the spell-checker isn't doing its job.
Busy playing with anagrams: Malbec = becalm
