Chris, I hadn’t noticed but it’s the same for me. On my laptop I only see a pdf option. However, if you’re printing the pdf have you tried increasing the scaling. For me about 112% fills a side of A4.

As for the puzzle, 1d was may in, which I guessed from the enumeration and backed into the parsing.

I'm going to put this aside. Another hour or so and I've only added 21d to my 20a (and I had to Google Tourist Trophy to get that one!)

You and me both, Chris. I've spent over 2 hours on it and still only got 8, 12, 20, 1d and 21d. Possibly 4d too but I can't justify three of the letters. I'm just going round and round all the clues and I've reached the 'life's too short' stage. Shame really, I was looking forward to this when I saw it was Enigmatist. Maybe I'll come back to it later.

And, as soon as I typed that, I immediately got 11a which I'd considered earlier but couldn't see the wordplay. OK, another coffee and let's see.

I don’t know if this helps with your parsing of 4d (my LOI which took a lot of staring even with the crossers), but ‘in’ in the clue accounts for 3 letters in the solution.

Probably the hardest Guardian puzzle I've dealt with in a long, long while. Some obscure GK, and much of it I only vaguely recalled from the bits and pieces of UK news I received in Australia. No quarrel with this being in the Prize slot.

Ah, thanks, rogissimo. That's exactly what my problem was. I took it to mean 'within'. Clever! I've ground to a halt again but will persevere (later).
