I think I see what you're doing - the 6 as a synonym (but I don't that works as well - the linking phrase/word helps to tie the elements together as a container for...).

Each to their own - we both solved it.

Personally I find the use of the 6 slightly more elegant in a cryptic clue that using the joining word
