Another very good one.
Am I correct to assume that entries with the remainder of the title written in the form of rows 5 and 6 and those with it written in letters would both be marked correct?

Are real words left above and below the circled cells once the latter have been sorted?

I don't think so unstuck, not if I've got it right.

Unstuck, just reread your question. Only one was not a real word in the grid prior to treating rows 5 and 6 in my grid.

Two in mine before replacing rows 5 and 6.

I have a mark in 4 of the circles, one of which must end up being the final letter of the asterisked word, but cannot yet find one for 11/6.
Am I correct that I replace the content of the grey cells with their [first 2 words of message] equivalents?
As for the white cells...no idea, unless there is a second version of the grey cells with which I am not familiar.
Any hints would be appreciated!
Many thanks!

I am with lewap. Have a full grid, and the message. Don’t have oed, so the 11/6 phrase is still a mystery (unless we are talking embroidery?). More fundamentally, one way of symbolising, for the grey cells, is obvious. But no clue about the other way. My better half has just suggested that there is really only one way, with one of the two code symbols for the grey cells, and the other for the whites. Can that really be so?

eenk, if I am reading your post correctly you should listen to your better half - assuming you have the correct code identified. 11/6 is not embroidery but the correct phrase does come up with it on google. It has other meanings.
