Hi Amaturestick
‘Twice beginning to drop’ and ‘off’ are separate instructions relating to the first two words of the clue.
Hope that helps.

Well I certainly struggled even with the forum helping!
Finally finished but without any feeling of satisfaction.
Nina worked first time in my browser , although I had never heard of the subject or the music.
FOI 22d
COD 4d at least that one made me smile
LOI 9a
Maybe the compilers are getting younger and I’m getting too old!

Back again

I gave up yesterday, but my friend in Sheffield had done lots more then me and shared her answers with me. I've managed to finish the rest, but can't explain 21d (I thought it was cricket, but my husband was no help - he supports Lancashire), 13ac (no idea of the parsing) 17ac (where do the last two letters come from?), 9ac (I've never heard of) and some others. I can make no sense of the Nina. Where do you start and which way round do you go. I've tried both ways. My firefox just talks about trailing slashes!

I really could have done with an easy crossword this week-end. Rocky, I keep hearing Covid is rampant again, even from my consultant neighbour. But I'm too old to get Covid - still feeling weak and wobbly.

Hi Roof,

I hope you're feeling better:-)

21d - "Yorkshire number 3" just refers to a single letter (not the 1st, not ... etc)

13a - "to love" is 2,1 then an anagram of "looked without Karen up front"

17a - the "cash once" is plural so accounts for the penultimate letter then, finally, "tense".

Nina starts at first letter of 1d and goes clockwise. See my post @48

Hi Brendan

Thanks for your explanation of some of the answers. I looked up your previous thread on the Nina, but must confess to be none the wiser. My computer skills are not brilliant and I'm not sure what symbols I should use.

But don't worry, I don't think I need to know the Nina.

Got it now. I'd got 2d wrong.

I'm not sure it was worth it.

Ha! Well done Roof.

It actually has quite a history and is one of the popular, if that's the word, internet memes of all time - 1.5 billion views!

Wow, what a lot of wasted 3 minutes 😂

But seriously, well done to Soup for a super fun puzzle:-)

I forgot to say

FOI 14ac, LOI was 12ac before I realised I'd got 2d wrong, so that may be LOI.

COD 22d because it was the easiest.
