chrise - letters 2 and 3 are "appearing" - as in theatre

I didn't find this one that tricky, apart from 3dn which is approaching Bolivian poets for me. Needed both crossers and a word search for that one, even though I'd more or less understood how the clue worked

Didn't spot a theme while solving, but then again I rarely do.

Re: theme - the examples are all specific examples of the genre sharing a particular characteristic; no two are from the same year…

Very good, HW7, I had a feeling we were missing something as it all felt a bit random, but that observation ties it together nicely :-)

I had an easy time with the obscure 3 because the solution was a relatively frequent guest of US-style (NY Times) puzzles back in the day.

Noticed the theme and for a change it definitely helped in completing the grid.

Same re 3d, geeker. For once we Yanks had the advantage.

I haven’t posted for a while but really struggling with some of these! Quite stuck on 5, 6, 7 down and 15a - so would be very grateful if a clue for one of those if anyone is willing?! I’m beginning to wonder if I have a crosser wrong for 6d as can’t work out a word to fit! Think I have the theme but it’s not really helping!

I hated 5. It's just a double def., but not anything I had heard of. In 15 the def. is novel name, i.e., a book title.

Ok I did have 12a wrong! Still a bit stuck though! Will have a think….
