I’m up to eleven, jono, but that includes counting one solution twice, once as a partial and once on its own. And one of them is incomplete so perhaps doesn’t count.

Thanks to this forum for explaining 1d, and pointing out the theme - am I right in assuming that the theme items are of roughly the same vintage?

Yes much GK required here but i'm enjoying this. Would I be right in saying actually the definition in 22a is the opposite. It did unfortunately.

If it's possible to give a hint for 3d I'd be grateful. I don't think I know them.

Rocky, sounds like your answer to 22a is correct.
In 3d think of “way” as one of the various abbreviations for a right of way. I didn’t know him either.

I'm all done apart from 3d. I'll have to come back later and try and get that one. Really enjoyable puzzle so thanks to Brummie. Didn't know a few of the answers including 3d as I have said. FOI 9a. LOI (still to go) 3d.

I liked 14d as my COD.

I can't see where letters 2 and 3 in 26a come from.

I've seen the theme now that it has been pointed out (though nowehere near as many thematics as jono!), but isn't 2d incomplete?
