It must be a strange anagram indicator then - or is it a word indicating blocking?

The pairs of letters lead to the actual words in a play title don’t they? The previous posts make me think they lead to a clue instead?
Thanks for putting me right on 18a, I was silly. So I only have two pairs of ambiguities to sort, and those cells must be in the quotations.

Lumen, the pairs of letters do lead to the play title but they also alter the clue without affecting its meaning.

Lumen, it means that at least one of each pair must be in the quotations.

Oh sorry I thought an anagram indicator was appearing within the 24 letters.

I do have Ogden in my ODQ but only 7 quotes - none mentioning a shape.

The next word [of the relevant quotation] is just that - it doesn’t have to be a shape itself.

I said earlier that we know the dimensions of the three shapes precisely. I have just realised the importance of this precision. The crucial dimension is an irrational number. If it was not this exact number the shapes would pass through cells which are not part of the quotation.
This is now my favourite puzzle of the year.
