I still need to parse 35 and 38 to be sure of my entries, but I realised that my missing point (which I still haven’t found) could only be one of three possibilities according to the final part of the line instruction. From there it all fitted together very neatly. Don’t fancy having to mark the entries very much, given all the mutilated letters.

Well, it's taken most of yesterday evening and the ODI on TMS, but I have it, and what a satisfying and stylish end product it is! I've still got to find a couple of misprongs, but at least I know what they should be.

Candlestick, 38 is definition is having thoughts as you probably know.
A is for about, and independence followed by Glaswegian for died circles it.
35 I don't know...I assumed the N was extra, but apparently not. I don't think i is an official abbrevaition for in, so not sure how it works.

i is in Chambers as an abbreviation.

OK, this is consuming me. All yesterday evening (90% finished) and most of today, on and off, on the compass points. I still have 7 potentials, none of which I can rule out and one of which could be one of 2 things. I don't submit my solutions so I wonder if any kind person would email me at my forum name dot gmail dot com so that I can just say what my 7 are and at least get one of them eliminated. I just need putting out of my misery! Thanks

Each pairing goes inter-C to C.

I think removing the previous thread was all that could be done - it rapidly filled up shortly after I posted to say how much I'd enjoyed the puzzle (and to suggest that Hawk's puzzle has something of the famous wren about it}.
And yes, someone wanted a copy of the puzzle and others were vehemently opposed to the idea (not me, though).

Just to let people know that someone has emailed me in response to my request. Thanks

For 35 it is 'i' as a shortened for of 'in', so it's a straight clue (the 'relation' is a story - reversed around it).

I’m still not sure how I’m meant to reconstruct the grid but I can see the film name and nearly both the actors’ names. However a less common letter in one of the names does not appear anywhere in my grid. If that makes sense to anyone can they give me a nudge please?!

A small help with parsing 6d and 7d would be nice. I have both answers, and definitions I believe.
