What have I missed! Who's been naughty? I could guess.
Grid fill is the easy part! I have 95% done but so many not fully parsed.
30a is troubling me. Anagrams of earth seem to not work.

I haven't a clue what you have missed Lumen - I wish I knew!! As for 30a, it isn't an anagram and there is a misprint in the definition. I think I have 5 of the directions, 2 in the acrosses and 3 in the downs and I can see the two lead actors (almost) and the films title, with the latter having one letter common to each name. I am now stuck because I do not know how to cut the grid.

Lumen, I suspect that somebody has tried to cadge a buckshee copy of the puzzle. I pay 26 quid a month for access to The Times (a bargain in my view), and I object to freeloading.

If my solution is correct, I think that the instructions are a little unhelpful and/or misleading. I have two similar shapes of different sizes. My problem is that they are not joined to each other along a complete side, only each independent piece conforms with that. My final direction (the 3rd one) was not easy to spot, not that the other 5 were particularly easy.

Gitto - you’d have to agree that it’s thematic though…

Lumen, the misprints and additional directions do make a lot of the clues seem impenetrable at first, but if you have those the clues become very fair, with a few definitions that are deliberately vague (IMO).

hw7, I never thought of that, I now feel happier about my final "grid".

I seem to be at an impasse and could really do with a leg-up. I have a full grid and 10 of the 12 misprints. I have 6 compass directions but my problem is that I have N and N as a pair, which obviously won’t work. I’m convinced by compass points all parse nicely so I’m not sure what’s gone on. I also don’t know how to ask for some help without giving too much away.

I haven’t made out the coded hint from the misprint corrections. Perhaps if I can do that, I can find my missing two misprints, which may help me eliminate or change my mind about one or more of my compass points…

If anyone has a clever way of letting me know what or where my compass points should be, that would be grand! I’m desperate to get my blade out…
