Hi Roof, I always do the Quick, and yes, 13 Zs today! I’m told Paul is a frequent setter of the Quick, and occasionally I think I can see his sense of humour poking through.

And in this puzzle 7 Ys seems like a great many more than one might expect… 🤔

Enjoyed this prize , amazed to finish without help from forum until now —- finding it impossible to parse first part of 18a.
8d interesting new word , surprised to read that 28a was a new word for some , thought it was a well known word .

I won't deprive you of the penny drop moment when you see where the first part of 18 comes from, but look closely at the clue (as someone said earlier)

so, is it just the number?

if you are referring to 16, the solution to 4d makes up part of the anagram

I think I must have got 24d wrong. I've dredged my brain for the organic compound that smells of pear drops and now have 25ac. Why did it take me so long? Now I have to get 24d, which I just have.
My husband, a frequent poster explained undesirable poster to me, so I've now got 26ac.
I got the grasshopper when I completed the NW corner. But three more to get.
19d, 20d and 28ac. I've come up with a word for 28ac I've never heard of, for which I have E?D?R?H. Are my crossers correct?

I just got it once I got 19d. Just one left now, which is 20d, which I think I have just got.

My FOI was 7d, closely followed by 5ac.
My LOI was 20d, which I just got
My COD was 18ac (I was puzzled by the puntuation), 22ac, 9ac and 2d.
