apologies to those who struggled, but i thought this was another grauniad cock-up and they published the quiptic here by mistake. i just have 16d to parse.
pedantically, the definition for 1a is wrong.
favourite also 19d, though "a" is misleading.

I had hoped for a puzzle that would take longer than this one - to take my mind off my 18a on Monday - I have problems with my :

I think this is on the easier side because once you have a few in, the answers are quite easy to see from the clue. You just then have to parse them.

But some brilliant clues in this once you work them out.

A nice gentle puzzle apart from 8d - I had fruit there with no idea why until I came here - lovely word :-)

I don't understand how there can be a Prize crossword when all the solutions are available via a simple online search. I only do this BTW when I am 85% sure and need reassurance.

I found 28a in Chambers 12th (p487)

I had not heard of it until last week when a friend sent a photo of a shield bug doing this act. She is an excellent photographer.
