Smithsax, I’d be surprised if you are on the wrong track. The second word needs to be taken in its general sense. The first definition in Chambers, rather than the third.

Just looked again at the second word of the instruction in Chambers. Happy now…..

Zone 11..? Maybe that relates to 11a? Can't see definition..
And 5d, these are the two holding me up.

Lumen, 33d, Def. is the first three words. 11 is a medieval roman numeral, one letter.
5d. Def is last 2 words. A word for green, minus a letter, + 'draw'

I have a full grid except for 4dn and 26ac. A hint for 4dn would be much appreciated if possible please! No idea of the theme yet but I will persevere on that front...

First word is the definition. The third word is removed before solving. The last two words are treated separately.

I have nearly finished this puzzle, but still have two outstanding issues. Firstly, I cannot see the significance of the words omitted from the across clues, although this appears not to matter. Secondly, I cannot solve 29 across. I can only assume that it is not too difficult as it has not previously been mentioned in this thread. I believe it will provide the ninth thematic item, in which case, it would need to accommodate an eight or twelve letter word, which it clearly cannot do. I am now beginning to wonder if I have got some of the other eleven thematic items wrong.
