Quisling, foinaven, I'm grid-staring in search of two 7-letter overseas authors named early in the Wikipedia entry for the work identified in the across correct letters, is this a waste of time? If not, a hint or nudge would be very welcome.

Greengage, I don’t believe the across correct letters identify the work as such, though they identify where you need to look and what you will find there. You are more likely to find the theme by looking at the down extra letters

I would suggest you might want to look again at your misprint in 32a. The correct letter is early in the alphabet

Apologies if this seems vague but I don’t want to give too much away early.
Grid complete and trying to follow the instruction in the across clue corrections.
I have moved 10 cells and have identified the required number of “elements” in the appropriate place. One while thematically strongly linked does not seem to be clearly defined by the second word of the instruction.
If I have got this wrong it is a brilliant red herring.
