Ah!
Now I understand why the 5 changed entries are exactly where they are, although how their 'changedness' and varying lengths correspond to the operational verb that thematically applies to each of their positions, escapes me. Can it be that the 'changedness' is simply and only to distinguish them from all the other entries in non-thematic positions? And that the operational verb isn't symbolised, and only the root values of the positions matter?

Or am I missing something subtle (as usual)?

Sorry for these duplications- the Captcha goes to a green tick, I press [submit] - and nothing appears to happen, with an error message saying I haven't done the Captcha properly - so I do it again - and then both postings appear. I'll give it a couple of minutes next time it happens.

Williamseal -the two names are very obvious and not at all hidden - but I'm not at all sure that you can have completed all the 6 thematic entries correctly without knowing the two names - which are absolutely essential to the identity of the abstract object whose components form the 4 crucial elements of the 6 entries.

I don't think you're missing anything, Quixote. As you surmise, it is only the clue numbers of the five changed words that matters.

Williamseal, perhaps you have an error. The last five letters of the 11 should give you a word.

Please can someone explain why there are five answers in thematic locations that need changing. I would have expected only four.

Rhona, one of the thematic locations has 2 answers while the other 3 only have one each. I hope this males sense.

In reply to williamseal @ 49, I think I know the award your are referring for the last three omitted letters. If so, your last letter is incorrect.

rhona, I think it's just an across/down thing. Having identified one location that requires an alteration, I wouldn't have thought both answers would need to change but I might be wrong. Maybe others know better?

Dsc, Rhona - both need to change - it's analogous to the 2 additional thematic entries
