longhare - I think the confusion may be from the slightly unintentionally misleading shading instruction. If you include the words "thematic words and" after the first word of the instruction it may help

Struggling with this one. Have a full grid of sorts but have about 8 answers that I'm not really happy with / don't seem to quite work.

Does 1d end in t? If so I have 4 consonants, 2 vowels and a blank for the author's name, is that right?

5a and 5d are particularly bugging me. I currently have 2 answers beginning with b but neither of them really works as far as I can see, so i suspect these are wrong.

Also are the items from the last line of verse 5 included?

They're immediately below the previous two (one of them 'split over two rows') and the later verse you mention is illustrated, in cryptic fashion, on the wings of the highlighted area (each member in line).
