gitto - sounds like you’re close. The figures take up more than 12 cells though

Sonofrover - you don’t add the 47 and 103 together and the figures are in straight lines, it’s only one piece of the thematic material that is split over two rows

I have full grid at last but not the full message. 32a looks like a straight clue that don’t fit any of the three categories?
And can’t parse 27 Minotaur one. Thanks!

I should have refrained from posting, as after another grid stare I have found the cells needed to complete the lower part of the illustration and see the preamble indication that the figures are excluded from the 47 is correct.

lumen, 32a is one of the 26 clues referred to in the preamble.

So is 27d. Look at its third word.

Now my full illustration leaves 93, not 103, cells to be appropriately treated !!

Have you included the necessary cells in the outer columns, Son1?

I have 7 cells in each of the outer columns to be treated, the other 5 in each of them being part of the 47.

I can't be sure without seeing your grid, but it looks like you're perhaps approaching the treatment the wrong way round?

Finished, I think, apart from a bit of colouring in. I was held up by being particularly dim about the significance of the last four extra words.

Am I right in assuming that the second hint from the extra letters refers to what is depicted by the 47 cells and two figures? If not I have more grid staring to do.

Enjoyable puzzle and I've learned something from completing it, which is always nice.
