10a - Chambers gives the answer as a Scots adjective meaning "empty" which in turn means "meaningless"- at leat I think that's it:-)

25d - 4 letter synonym for "project" as verb (think 'kick') around single letter "heart of Piggot" then lastly single letter "advanced" - Lester is extra word.

.... sorry "heart of Piggott".

I have finished but still don't understand what the relevance is fo the last four of the extra words. They don't appear in the work so how are they thematic? Thanks.

I think they're meant to represent subsequent generations coming and going but rendered cryptically (endlessly changing). In a similar way the other two names don't feature in the text, they merely represent a certain culture.

Maybe worth checking the first seven letters of the penultimate column to see if they connect to one of the names - a name both endless and altered

I have solved and still completely unclear where to shade. Is there ore than one option for getting to 103 cells, and do I shade the 103 or the 53?

There is only one thematic way to get the 103, and they are the one that require the attention.

The only way I can get there is to include in the shading two thematic items who may be also found in TV programmes - from very different genres and decades
