Hi Mikey,
23a try inserting the common two letter abbreviation for Her Maj into your word and you should get a word for communicate
24a apply ‘on vacation’ to the words preceding it. Then add an acronym for promises

Thanks for the replies.
I didn't know about the "on vacation" double meaning.

15 works in much of the US, at least in Central time zone.

Fairly straightforward today but I had to use a missing letter solver to get the last one (24A) - would never have got that on my own or from the fragments in the clue.

I discovered the (somewhat striking) word 24 in P. G. Wodehouse's novels. Made such a big impression that its rare crossword appearances are generally write-ins. 🍀

10A was my clue of the day, very witty.

Got into a little white-out with 19d and 26a. I had a film tutor from NI who always pronounced the genre magnificently with his accent. Since then part of my brain tells me it has at least two syllables.

Still stuck on 17a. Is anyone else?

Hi Minno,

17a - Is a double definition - the first meaning "last chance" as in 'time limit' and the second a humorous description for the end of "dinosaurs".

I've got 17a as a rather feeble (double?) definition. The weakest clue in the puzzle, if I have the right answer. "Last chance" is the closer definition.
