I managed to finish this very clever Listener but am mystified by the 29-cell shape description in the preamble. The cells involved in the outline number only 21 for me.

There are indeed 21 in the outline, but you have to move those within it too, which takes the number to 29

I see. Thank you. quisling. A bit misleading when we're talking about outlines, but I take the point.

As a starting point, in order the clues you have listed are:

misprint = m
jumble = j
m
j
j

Will echo other people's thoughts that this was an astonishing piece of construction - no idea how it was done!

For those last two, are the definitions 'Shakespeare' feeding' and tense?

Hi Lumen,

5aa - definition is "use" (tense is just a single letter)

48a - Yes, Shakespeare's feeding

I’ve managed to virtually complete this including the endgame but I’ve not quite sorted out the SW corner. At 46A I have a word that isn’t in Chambers and at 49A I have all but the last letter but again can’t make a word in Chambers. Can anyone assist please?

Absolutely brilliant puzzle, illustrating the theme beautifully. No ambiguity at all about what to do, and very fair, if challenging, clues. I don't think I have seen the method of entering the 17 answers before.

If there is a better puzzle this year, I will be astonished.
