One of the most enjoyable and impressive Listeners I've done

This is simply a masterpiece. The construction, both before and after, is absolutely amazing and the clues are outstanding. My last solve was 51a, mainly because of the double unches, but perfectly fair when the PDM comes. I had to re-read the preamble before I understood how the 17 clues worked and some of these required back solving from the definition to work them out, but I cannot criticise any of them. Brilliant!!

My last post should have read "...phenomenal feat of construction" though early posters seem to have had a "fete" with this one!
Now it's down to the perennial question: do we simply highlight the cells of the 'shape' or is a bit of draughtsmanship required?

As I read it the preamble does not require anything to be done to the shape.

jif73, ref the preamble "a 29 cell shape representing the character". Therefore I have assumed that shading those cells is in agreement with the instruction.

Yes, a tremendous puzzle. Yet again I have one unresolved issue - I can't see where my misprint in 6 down belongs.

I prefer the poems to the daft short stories.
