It’s funny isn’t it. 8d was one of my last in too as I just couldn’t see it as an anagram for ages and was convinced it must end with “OD”somehow!

I don't know if this has already been raised here, but my second remaining word in row 10 (strange how both sort of mean "get rid of") is so close to a REALLY apposite word to go with the deity just above it, that I am really tempted to "overwrite" the O with a B, but can see nothing within the preamble to justify that move. I guess I'm going to have to put it down to an abandoned attempt by Android to put the icing on the cake, as it were, or to an amazing coincidence. GRIMB? No. LBIRE? No. So close!

Agree, turast, that would be quite appropriate but the letters as they stand relate directly to the title, as Jack aubrey@109 has noted, so happy either way!
