Thanks Will37

I had an A for the last letter of 27 across. My Chambers has three separate spellings. Your intervention is much appreciated.

Yes, williamseal, I too was baffled by the three different options in Chambers for the last, unchecked letter of 27 across. It only becomes clear that it has to be "I" when you get further into the puzzle.

All done with thanks to all - in particular for Will37.

It was a most enjoyable puzzle at about the right level of me so my thanks also to Awinger. It was a welcome break. As it happens I am the Agent in my rural constituency for one of the four 'A' s. I shall be glad when it's all over after the Saturday count

The help on the Forum is much appreciated, so I won't reveal which of the four 'A's in case it puts someone off in the future!

The city is Picardy is the first one that shows up in a google search. It's that pesky "are" as in "a metric measure of area" again, which fools me just about every time. Remove its abbreviation from the city.

Well, I am ready to put this baby to rest, but need a little help to do so, as I am not familiar enough with British "A". I have the two biggies, and a colorful one, but a hint to where the fourth is lurking, or what to look for, would be appreciated.

They were part of the ruling coalition when Cameron was PM (Nick Clegg was the leader)

Thanks, Buddy the Anglophile. I do know of that one, but I wasn't looking for an abbreviation.
