I think it's just a synonym of the A word (in a social sense)

Fgsltw, Dos looks odd in the plural, more usual in the singular - a Do,
a function,a get-together, p????

It does look odd - but Chambers has Xs and X’s as acceptable plurals of the singular of A, if that makes sense.

At last, a Listener that goes down a treat! I don't mind having to work but occasionally it's great when everything falls into place immediately. Nice one, Awinger!

Reverting to 34ac - I have two possible vowels for the fourth letter but neither quite works. One derives from a 7-letter spelling of the wives in BRB but doesn’t lead to a dress. The other one provides the dress but doesn’t lead back to any 7-letter spelling of the wives. How do I decide?
