Does anyone else have an apparent conflict with the directions at the 6th asterisk?

I quickly did the NE and SW corners ie the unjumbled answers, but no others entered.

Sometimes, with jumbled answers, we can assume that unchecked cells contain the same letter, but I suspect that's not the case here?

I think 2d is obvious, am I right? Also, I have the definition answer for 31ac, but can't see the wordplay.

I think the wordplay does not include "bin", so 3 letter word for leg and 2 letter word for covered by.

Am I right in thinking that the "successor" appears top left and the bingo-hall bottom right?
I am a long way from completing this and would appreciate some help with 27a , the twiddle clue.

Bathmatters - don’t think there’s a conflict if you reread the preamble

Dylan - 2d - not sure what you think is obvious, I had a hidden

Tony - I have successor top left but bingo hall is bottom half but not right at bottom

Twiddle clue is one of my two remaining to parse but I have audibly as the definition

I think I have solved 6d and the definition is the last 4 words but I don't understand the wordplay. Please help.

Bananabean - this was my final parsing issue so may be wrong but think it is
a word defined by the first three words and then switch out the “W” for women and replace with two letters meaning “has ended”
