Thanks Nelson. Sorted. I had the wrong answer for 'Enthusiastic nursing and the grids the wrong way round. Doh! Just got to work out the anomaly..

Sorry, I meant ambiguity not anomaly. Quite why it's ambiguous unless it means add the letter rather than the number, I don't know.

All done having guessed at some extra letters as i can't parse ...

objectively we push for a signifcant increase ( the answer "paired" up with the "cartoonist" clue...

son chip may be spiky when blue ? i can see son (or) s + nick but not how they fit together

Is the central character in the right hand pane well known? I’ve never heard of him which made this harder plus I spent ages wondering what to do with the “here” in Successes of UPS. Also, does a raver yearn? Quite neat ending however.

A craver yearns, teenieleek. The mentions losing a top. As for the central character, he was in the Guardian newspaper and maybe still is.

That was quite the slog and it’s in the balance for me whether it was worth it.

However I do admire the fact that the setter spotted the anniversaries and that they were connected and that they had 10 letters each that could start at the centre letter of the 7 letter creator and then come up with these almost matching grids.

Great crossword construction skills.
