Perhaps MathPRS would be better off searching for the 9 letter word of the 9,4, most or all of which he will have...

Still a couple of questions though. I don't see the parsing in 1a. I assume the second word has the misprint, and it should begin with g, but I still don't get it. For 44a I have the wordplay, but I don't see how the word I get fits the definition. Here I think the misprint is in the first word. I guess it could possibly be in the third though.

Have completed puzzle, satisfied the instructions, etc bu have a single loose end to tie up. 29a Scots relishing short cause of long failure (5). With the misprint in the 6th word, I see only 2 possible answers. I tend to favour the one whose final letter is the same as the first, but I just cannot parse it. Can anyone offer a hint please?

Math prof - in 1A, the misprint is in “line” and the usual term for sappers is used in the wordplay

In 44a, you’re right that the misprint is in the first word and the answer can then mean the first three words of the clue

Thanks, I get that, but I still can't parse the answer. A Scots word for relishing, with the end missing, I suppose?

Math prof, I did wonder whether 44a would catch out people not in the UK (and a few other countries in the world) where the answer doesn't fit motoring practice. Seems I was right.....

PKA, that was my guess that a left turn would be a near turn in the UK, but wasn't sure.

Thanks, Candledave. I have not done these long enough to know that "sapper" has a usual term (and I am not a Brit), but now I have it.
