In most crosswords, it would be 6 as a numeral (ie the answer to clue 6); bananas is anagrind.

S is medieval Roman numeral for 7 (see posts passim).

Altered letter is in last word (definition).

No need for introspection on this one. The evidence is in front me. Let's call this done. Submission needs something in blue and is the consensus that the helpful posts by Lewap and Loge at 35 and 36 are correct? If there is an alternative I can't think of one. Who knows?
