A bit disappointing especially as last weeks was on the easy side too.
I predict next week we will have a stinker.
For those with time on their hands I recently discovered the amazing Listener No 4000. I have been doing it for 2 weeks and still only three quarters of the way through. I am sure the old hands in this group will have already done it but here is a link for those who have not tried it.

Once again, being a non-Brit has me at a bit of a disadvantage. I have the entire grid filled in, and I at first had the theme superficially. Coincidentally, in a Peer Review thread a few weeks ago, the activity on which the theme is based was in a video given as a "prize." (First time I'd ever seen it.) Once I found the 8-letter phrase in the grid, and figured which letter to remove, I made the connection. Still, I am not at all familiar with the activity in question, and I am missing one of the removed letters. I have looked up the rules of the activity, but couldn't get there with that. Any suggestions? The V and K reference earlier eludes me.

Agree with the consensus that as far as filling the grid this was an easy Listener. Only two or three obscure words involved.

Mathprofrcockstar, maybe looking up the scoring of the game, and the ideal, would be ...productive.

Thanks, Malone. I have, but maybe not closely enough. Wait. Just got it. The word ideal did the trick. Malone to the rescue again!

Thanks, mathprofrockstar - glad you got there. I was tempted to tell you to have a look at the number of posts on this thread, but that might have changed by the time I did, leaving you more confused!

Smithsax - I'm probably being stupid but I can't get Listener 4000 to display the grid. Any help?
