Quiz, glad I could help.

Oh dear! An easy enough grid fill but I am completely stumped on the eight cell phrase....must be missing something obvious I guess....will more wine help?

Blacksaint, I just treated it as a wordsearch - across, then down, then....

Thanks for 10, I just have one cell empty now, in 7d. Assume it’s a thematic.

Despite Malone's helpful hint I still couldn't see the phrase so I went for the "more wine" option. Sadly, in putting my Chambers back on its shelf I knocked the glass of wine over so never got to find out if it was going to help or not. Think I'll go for the "leave until tomorrow"option.

Lumen, yes 7d is thematic. You might draw a “theme word” “grid entry.”

Thanks for the hint on 10, Malone. As a non-Brit I am familiar with that very British “hey” but still couldn’t make it work. Didn’t hold up getting the rest of the grid at least.

I have one obvious theme word missing, malone; linked to the title too maybe? but don't know that phrase...for 7d.

Glad that helped, mathprofrockstar. I have to say that I have never ever heard anyone say the 'hey' word in real life, only in films or television programmes!

Lumen, I had only two thematic words still to use when I tackled 7 D. I tried one... and it was in Chambers, with the correct meaning, as in the clue.
