First of the day from me is another old Araucaria.
Man much sought, also with reign. (4) L-O-
I have LION, as in lionise for the sought after bit, but apart from an oblique reference to Richard I the "also with reign" part seems a tad iffy?

I imagine this was topical at the time. It wouldn’t cut it today perhaps, but it’s a great word.

Reign can be `power`, `status`, as well as `rule` or the period of a monarch`s rule ... I`m not sure it`s a great clue!

Yes, agree - not one of Araucaria's best!
But here's my next, a Bunthorne from 1994,
Too scared of Mrs Thatcher to waste time? (7)
F-I-T-R The answer's FRITTER, and the scared element I presume is FRIT, but as for the Mrs Thatcher bit, I don't get it!

Margaret Thatcher famously used the word frit for frightened. (May referred to this more recently). And to waist time is to fritter it away.
