Think of it more like satire than SF, but you really are missing something. Try the Moist von Lipwig ones - Going postal, Making money, Raising steam. (Late ones, but some of the best.)

CORPOREAL, spike's choice for Peer Review 446, came up in yesterday's Times 27822:

Junior officer grabs last of spare material (9)

I think kt17 got nearest to it with:

Having substance, soldier took drug (9)

Mattrom won with the memorable:

Having a body that's small, firm, round and can be held (9)

It was a competition beset with technical problems of post numbering and spike was unable to award a prize.

Hey Paul, did you see mention of one of your recent winning clues in the Guardian thread yesterday? I think it was Mattrom who spotted it. General opinion was that your clue was better! Guardian clue:-
Lots of politicians do OK on links and connexions (7)

Jono, thanks for the heads up (I use that phrase here so I can say I dislike it!) in @253, and thanks for the memory, mattrom.

I stick with Times, S Times or things would get out of hand, so don't join the great following which the Guardian seems to have.

A friend at my bridge club occasionally sets a Listener as Tnap. I tried his last one but never got his theme which was nicknames of American regiments or something like that.
