Very nice, but I don't possess the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary and am unable to confirm the right-hand 3 across entry. I have (I think) deduced the answer from the wordplay, its relative position and the missing letter, but I can't find a single online reference to it. Can someone who has SOED please confirm that this word has a nautical meaning, as well as being more commonly a diminutive form of a female name?

Yes, it is given as:

A small South Indian sailing vessel. Obsolete.

Not fond of a clue that requires one specific dictionary to confirm!

Thank you, Buddy. Usually it's possible to find some online reference to SOED-only words, but not in this case it seems.

Can someone please give me a clue to 15d on the RHS. I have it as the 1st and 3rd letters unchecked, but not a scooby to the middle one. I also believe that it is only clued by two words.

Hi gitto, the 2nd unchecked letter is the same as the 3rd and in Chambers; the clue is definition only.

Thanks ginge, that also confirms why I couldn't, but now can, parse 15d on the LHS - which previously had caused me considerable consternation.

Jogamel. the answers are entered in the order of the clue.

Neighbours... leads to a six-letter word meaning 'reviewer'. 'A different side of' is the usual instruction to change a letter. The answer is a word meaning 'capable of being pronounced with full-word stress'. It's often relating to French words, hence 'neighbours'.

The rest of the clue is for the other side. There's a letter not given by wordplay. You need a three-letter 'us' after a two-letter abbreviation for 'posties'. The 'mail' isn't letters or parcels!

The left hand entry is the first part of the clue and ends at 'side'. I think your 't' in the other entry is wrong.

I hesitate to correct malone and I never thought the day would come, but it's not capable of being pronounced with full-word stress.
