Muraria, you've got the right entries - and there can be a P for UPTOWN, it comes down from 16ac. I also got held up by 'crore' before i found FRERE.
The across entry at 29ac is a compound word regarding fashion trends.
I wouldn't bother too much about 28ac until you really have to - I thought it was the most obscure answer of the lot, it's a two word phrase and i really had to look carefully at the Chambers entry to see it.

I see i have put the M and the P the wrong way round in there ....so back to the drawing board!

Muraria, your latest post wasn't there when I sent mine. You have one error in that line - swap the O and E - it's FRERE, not CRORE.

Just a little hint - don't discount anything until you've checked a hard copy of Chambers (although there is an answer that's not found there - it's in Collins).
